I think the sensor couldn’t accurately pick a target in the shot (above),but it has no problems with large targets (below).

I am retiring the Chinon Belami AF because the auto focus sensor is not good. The last roll of film I shot with it had some good shots that should not have been out of focus considering how sunny it was yesterday morning. The viewing window made it easy to compose but that doesn’t mean a thing without good auto focus.
